Bad review timeline: no argument in the first 24 hours, check the facts, own the fix, reply publicly with facts, recover over time
The first 24 hours and the response that follows.

The first 24 hours: do not argue

The instinct is to defend yourself immediately. Wait a day. A reply written in anger reads as proof of the problem to every future buyer who sees it, and it is much harder to walk back than to write carefully.

Use the first hours to gather information. Read the review twice, read the order messages, look at what was delivered, and separate the buyer's tone from the facts they describe. By the time you write, you will know which parts are legitimate, which are a misunderstanding, and which are simply unfair.

Check the facts and the order history

Pull the full record before deciding anything. What did the buyer ask for in the requirements? What did you promise in the gig description and packages? What was the timeline of messages, revisions, and delivery? Was there a scope change you accepted mid-order?

Write a short timeline. It keeps the public reply factual and shows where the disagreement started.

Own the fix when the order went wrong

If the review is fair, say so in your reply. Acknowledge what fell short, state what you changed or offered, and stop there.

Then fix the cause privately: tighten the requirements questions, add a revision check before delivery, update the package description so the promise matches what you deliver.

Write a public response that serves future buyers

Your reply is not for the unhappy buyer. It is for the next person reading your profile. Two or three sentences will do: thank them for the feedback, state the facts plainly, and describe how you resolve issues like this. No sarcasm, no point-by-point rebuttal, nothing private they did not share.

If the review misstates what happened, correct it once, calmly, and stop. For example: "Thanks for the feedback. The final file was two days late, and I have added a delivery buffer to my process since."

Use revisions and Fiverr's process, not demands

If the order can still be improved, offer a revision through Fiverr's normal process and let the buyer decide. Never ask for a review to be changed as a condition of fixing anything, and never pressure a buyer to remove feedback.

If you believe the review breaks Fiverr's policies, report it through the platform with facts and let Fiverr decide. For how that process works for sellers, see the Fiverr Resolution Center guide. Most reviews are not removable.

Recover your average over time

One low rating moves a long history less than it feels like it will. The average recovers through consistent deliveries and happy buyers, not shortcuts. The free Fiverr rating calculator shows how a single review shifts your average and how many good orders it takes to move it back, so the situation gets a number instead of a feeling.

Keep delivering at your normal standard and give the average the volume it needs.

Prevent the next bad review

  • Ask clarifying questions in the requirements before starting.
  • Confirm scope changes in writing, including any effect on price or timeline.
  • Send a preview or revision check before final delivery on complex orders.
  • Message the buyer early when something is at risk, not after the deadline.
  • Keep the gig description honest about what each package includes.

Most bad reviews are expectation problems, not quality problems, and expectations are set long before delivery day.

Bad Fiverr review questions

Should I reply to a bad Fiverr review?

Usually yes, once you are calm. A brief, factual reply shows future buyers how you handle problems. Keep it to two or three sentences, acknowledge the issue without arguing, and state what you did or offered to resolve it.

Can I get a bad Fiverr review removed?

Only through Fiverr's own review process when a review breaks its policies, and Fiverr makes that call. If you believe it does, report it with facts. Otherwise, treat the review as permanent and focus on your reply and on the reviews that follow.

Will one bad review ruin my Fiverr rating?

Not by itself in most cases. A single low rating moves a long history less than sellers fear. The bigger risk is a pattern of unhappy buyers, which affects buyer satisfaction and your Success Score. Fix the cause before chasing the number.

Should I offer a refund to remove a bad review?

You can resolve the underlying problem, and Fiverr has its own processes for cancellations and reviews. Never trade payment for a review, and never buy reviews. Keep the conversation inside Fiverr and document what you offered.
